RSA Chase Form

A couple of key races that require a second look in your search for the RSA Chase winner by checking out the Reynoldstown Novices' Chase at Ascot or the Novice Chase at Newbury both run in February as these were the prep runs by the last two English winners in Albertas Run in 2008 and Denman in 2007 and the Dr. P.J. Moriarty Novice Chase at Leopardstown which produced the winner of the 2009 winner in Cooldine.

We shall be following the progress of all these trials in the build up to the 2010 RSA Chase and you can review our pre race form guide in full detail come the weeks prior to the March festival.

RSA Chase Latest Form Updates

Punchestowns moves to the head of the betting after his flawless display in the Grade 2 Berkshire Chase on his fencing debut at the Newbury Hennessy winter festival. Despite a very bad mistake at Sandown on the first week of February he showed what a really good horse he is to get up and win well and if he can put in a clear round of jumping at Prestbury Park he will be very difficult to beat.

A good performance was in evidence in the Novices Chase on the first day of the Boylesports meeting where Weird Al trained by Ian Williams beat a decent field and it a likely contender for this race.

Inchidaly Rock won the Ryman Novices Hurdle on Boylesports Gold Cup day and while he was not that impressive beating a non stayer in Hey Big Spender, it was a battling victory and made it two from two for the season but got well and truly beat by Diamond Harry and Bensalem at Newbury and is probably will not run in the RSA Chase now.

A leading contender come March is going to be Long Run, who on his first outing in the UK trounced a good field in the Novices Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day winning by 14 lengths. While a little chancy at his fences he is a clear favourite for the RSA Chase. He followed up in the Kingmaker Novices Chase run over an inadequate 2 miles but still hacked up in his prep race at Warwick and he is most likely to run in the RSA and not in the Arkle.

Tasbar ran a cracking race in the Novice Chase at Huntingdon on the 16th January and maybe given an entry in the race. His second to Long Run complemented his first effort. Tazbar followed up at Doncaster on the 6th February in a really impressive display and is an interesting each way Ante Post RSA Chase Bet. However the latest news is that he is non runner as he has tendon problems and is out for the season.

Diamond Harry made a very impressive Chasing debut in the Sportingbet Novices Chase at Haydock at the end of January and it now a real contender for this race after realising that he can not stay with Big Bucks in the World Hurdle. He followed up in the totesport novices chase by beating Bensalem by a couple of lenghts, he will face a much sterner test at the festival but he will go there unbeaten.

Mighty Man looks quite a natural over the larger fences winning well at Huntingdon on the 27th January and could turn up at the festival while many may think he will stick to running at his favoured track Aintree.

Weird Al keeps winning and was impressive in his jumping in the totesport towton novices at Weatherby in what is a well established trial for the RSA and he is a really interesting each way ante post bet for the Cheltenham feature. He has never lost over fences and has won twice over fences at the Prestbury Park track. Unfortunately he is out of the race with a stress fracture.

Burton wins the Reynoldstown Chase at Ascot mid February and jumped pretty well but does not look like a winner of the RSA Chase, others would have better credentials particularly his stablemate Punchestowns.
